The Office of the Police Chief works to provide effective, efficient, and ethical police services through the management of allocated human and physical resources.

The Chief of Police is responsible for the overall management of police services in the community. Reporting to the City Manager, the Chief and his staff plan, organize and direct all Police Department operations to provide a safe and orderly environment for residents and visitors. The Chief is assisted by a Deputy Chief and 3 Captains who serve as commanders of the department's divisions. The Chief is responsible for media relations and manages responses to citizen complaints and inquiries.
Under the direction of the Chief, the Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) investigates allegations of serious misconduct by Police Department members and incidents that may result in civil litigation. The SIB also conducts background investigations of various applicants for employment and licensing. The SIB also enforces laws regulating the sale of alcoholic beverages and prepares the department's response to litigation.
