Prizes and Participation

Register for Summer Reading starting June 10 and then see a librarian to collect a Registration Prize! Those who register will be automatically entered to win raffle prizes! 

There are several ways to participate! Pick up a Reading Map and try to get to the end! Every 4th stop earns a prize! 

If you are using either Beanstack, or this paper log, to record your progress, every badge has 3 activities to complete. Once you earn the badge, come into the library for a prize! 5 badges required to finish the program. (Besides the registration prize, please do not pick up your first prize until June 17th).

Once you have completed the Summer Reading program, see a librarian to be registered for a free day at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park! May not register for Finisher Prize until July 8. Readers must finish SRP by August 3rd to qualify to go to Urban Air. Most prizes and baskets generously donated by local Sterling Heights businesses.

Summer Reading Kickoff and Community Art Project

Join us on Monday, June 10 at 12 p.m. for a family-friendly performance by the Spoon Man! Then learn all about Summer Reading, and claim your registration prize! We will then complete a community art project.  Treats provided!

Spoon Man: 12 - 1 p.m.
Summer Reading Info and Registration: 1-2p.m.
Community Art Project: 2-3p.m.

PAWS for Reading

Children and pets have a special bond because animals do not judge or interrupt a reader. The first 10 children to check in at the Youth desk can read to certified therapy dogs and develop their reading skills. PAWS for Reading is every Tuesday @ 6:00 p.m.

BeTWEEN the Covers Book Box

Reserve a Book Box for your tween! Each box comes with a SHL library book (which must be returned), a STEM project/activity that goes with the theme of the book, a snack, and something fun. Genre choices: Fantasy, Mystery, Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, or Graphic Novels. Please make SHPL aware of any food allergies. Must register each month.
