[ARCHIVED] City of Sterling Heights and AGS Automotive Celebrate Launch of Inspiring Green Partnership

AGS Inspiring Green

The City of Sterling Heights and AGS Automotive officially kicked off the City’s Inspiring Green initiative on Monday evening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at AGS’s 18 ½ Mile Road facility.

AGS became the first Inspire Partner of the new program with a $30,000 contribution that will help plant more than 90 new trees and eco-friendly landscaping throughout the community.

“Sterling Heights is committed to reforesting our community and creating a sustainable future. The Inspiring Green Initiative allows us to transform roadways and public spaces into greener, healthier environments that will benefit residents for generations,” said Mayor Michael Taylor. “AGS Automotive leadership as our first Inspire Partner demonstrates what’s possible when businesses and the City work together to strengthen our quality of life.”

The Inspiring Green Initiative was created to lead, educate, and inspire sustainable living by engaging businesses, organizations and residents in supporting activities like expanding urban green spaces and promoting sustainable landscaping including stormwater management.

“It is a real honor for AGS to be part of the City’s Inspiring Green Initiative. We believe it’s important to contribute to the communities where we live and work, and this effort is a perfect example of how we can help create a better environment for all,” said AGS Automotive Co-President Joe Loparco. “I commend the City of Sterling Heights not only on its vision but also on its passion to make this happen. As someone who has driven past these medians for decades, I’m excited to see them lined with trees and to imagine how big and beautiful they will be in a decade for our kids and our community.”

The City’s revamped Adopt-a-Road program inspired the creation of Inspiring Green, which expands beyond litter clean-up to emphasize sustainability and environmental stewardship. Through three levels of partnership, community businesses and organizations can support increasingly impactful projects and receive public recognition.
