Building Closures

The Community Center, Nature Center, Senior Center will be closed on closed on Nov. 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving. Normal operations will resume on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Special Events

Daddy Daughter Dance

Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. Register online by Oct. 31.

Step into the spellbinding world of Oz for an afternoon that's WICKED good fun! Join us for this year's Daddy Daughter Dance, where good meets glam and memories are made to last a lifetime. From enchanting décor to sweet treats and twirling on the dance floor, this is your chance to bond in a storybook setting straight out of the Land of Oz. When you're together, you're already defying gravity. For girls ages 3 to 13 and their date. Pre-registration is required. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Thanksgiving Tennis Tournament

Saturday, Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Register online by Nov. 25.

We're serving up more than just turkey this Thanksgiving. Sign up for our annual Thanksgiving Tennis Tournament for ages 5 to 18. This is a fun, low-pressure, community-based tennis competition for your child. Nonelimination, each doubles team will play between three and five matches against opponents of similar skill. They will spend most of the time on court with minimal downtime. Matches will be indoors at the Sterling Heights Community Center. You can indicate a doubles partner at registration, or register alone and we will partner players.

Super Smash Bro's Tournament

Thursday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. Register online by Nov. 10.

Ready to battle it out on the big screen? Join us for our Super Smash Bros. tournament on Thursday, Nov. 13! Teen division (ages 12–17) kicks off at 5 p.m. Junior division (ages 7–11) starts at 6:15 p.m. Players will compete in pool play followed by a head-to-head, double-elimination tournament. Prizes go to the first- and second-place finishers in each division.

A Wicked Party - Adaptive Recreation Dance

Friday, Nov. 14 from 6-9 p.m. Register online by Nov. 13.

Step into the spellbinding world of Oz for a night that's wicked good fun. Join us for an evening where good meets glam and memories are made to last a lifetime. From spellbinding décor to sweet treats and twirling on the dance floor, this is your chance to bond with friends in a storybook setting straight out of the Land of Oz. Because when you're together, you're already defying gravity. Two slices of pizza and a beverage will be served to all participants. 

This event is for Adaptive Recreation participants ages 16 and older. Anyone with a cognitive or physical impairment and their caretakers are welcome.

Community Blood Drive

Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 2:30 - 7 p.m. Register online.

Help spread the love by donating blood at our upcoming Community Blood Drive on Nov. 18 from 2:30 - 7 p.m. at the Community Center. Walk-ins welcome as schedule allows but appointments are preferred.

Mittens of Love - Artist Inside

Saturday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Register online by Nov. 18.

Wrap yourself in warmth and creativity at this month's Artist Inside class! In this cozy, feel-good session, you'll paint an adorable pair of mittens - joined by a heartstring and surrounded by snowy charm - perfect for celebrating the season of togetherness. These art classes are guided and no experience is required. Open to all ages and abilities. Fees include supplies, guidance, and themed treats!

Grateful Plates - Prep Like a Pro

Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 6-7 p.m. Register online by Nov. 14.

Step into the kitchen and savor the spirit of the season at this Thanksgiving-themed cooking class. Whether you're hosting, helping or simply hungry to learn, we will guide you through crafting a memorable meal one delicious dish at a time. Each participant will take home their creations to enjoy. Main ingredients will be provided; you will just need to add your choice of protein at home.

This program guides chefs of all experience levels through the basics of food preparation. Bolster your independence while gaining valuable knowledge for both in and out of the kitchen, including knife safety, motor skills, problem-solving skills, confidence and more.

Light 'Em Up Laser Tag - Teen Night Out

Friday, Nov. 21 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Register online by Nov. 16.

Start the holiday season out with a BLAST at our Teen Night Out featuring three games of laser tag excitement! Pizza and pop will be included. Transportation will be provided from the Community Center.

Nature Center

November Home School: Flow of Energy

Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 2-4 p.m. Register online by Nov. 17.

Understand the flow of energy in food webs, from the sun to plants to predators, and explore how animals and plants conserve energy in winter. This program is designed for ages 5-15.

Senior Center

Secretary of State Mobile Office Visit

Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call the Senior Center at 586-446-2750 to make an appointment.

The Secretary of State’s mobile office is rolling into the Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 5.  Schedule an appointment at 586-446-2750 to renew your driver’s license or ID, handle title transfers, request disability placards, and more!

50+ Programming Open House

Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. No registration required.

You're invited to our 50+ Open House—a celebration of more than 50 years of programming designed to help our community age well. This is the perfect chance for you to explore what the Senior Center and our 50+ programs are all about. Whether you’ve never visited before or you’re already a member, this is a great opportunity to discover new ways to get involved. Representatives from several programs will be on-site to answer questions, share what their groups do and offer demonstrations. The Open House is free and open to residents and nonresidents. You do not have to be 50 or older to attend—just stop by and see how our 50+ programming is helping the community age well.

  • Drop-in play in the gym, including badminton, cornhole and chair volleyball
