How do I register for an activity?

Check out our detailed, step-by-step guide on how to register for a program.

I live in Sterling Heights – why does it say my household is Non-Resident?

Begin typing in your home address, and it will auto-populate if you live within Sterling Heights. Do not allow your device to use the "autofill" function, which disables residency verification.  If your address does not populate in the drop-down and you believe it is in error, or if you accidentally used autofill and you were set as non-resident, please email recreation@sterlingheights.gov or call 586-446-2700, or use the Contact Us tab in RecTrac.

Note: Sterling Heights residency is determined by whether a portion of your residence’s tax bill are allocated to Sterling Heights.

Does each person need their own household account?

No. Every member of your residential household should be added to a single account. The Household Primary Person must be an adult at least 18 years old. A second adult on the account can be listed as a Secondary Guardian. All others that reside in the same household, including all children, should be listed as Other. Extended family members or family not living at the same residence must create a separate household.

How do I add children to my household?

Add Additional Family Member and select Other for relationship. Be sure to enter birth dates correctly.

Can other adults on my Account have their own login?

Yes. All adults who plan to access the account should have their own login and password. If they are not yet on your account, go to Household Account Management, click Household and Member Update, and add them as an Additional Family Member. If they are already on your account, select the Invite button, and they will receive an email invitation to create their login and password. Anyone listed as an Account Manager will have access to transactions on the account.

It says that I am already in the system, but I can’t log in, how can I fix that?

This means you have an account but have not completed the setup and email verification. Please email recreation@sterlingheights.gov or call 586-446-2700 or use the Contact Us tab in RecTrac and we will send you an invitation to complete your setup.

I never received a Verify Email from Sterling Heights. What do I do?

Check your Spam/ Junk folder for an email from misterlinghghts@rectrac.com. This invitation link expires within 24 hours. If your link expired, please email recreation@sterlingheights.gov or call 586-446-2700, or use the Contact Us tab in RecTrac, and we will send you a new link.

I received an invitation to join a household and finish setting up an account. What do I do?

This email allows you to establish a username and password for an account we, or another family member, has started for you.  When you get this, please click “finish setting up your account” and choose your username and password.

I forgot my username and/or password.

Visit the Login Screen and click Forgot Username? or Forgot Password? A reset email will be sent to you. Your username is a unique name you set up at the time you created the account.

How do I make changes to my Household or add other family members?

Login to your account and go to Household Account Management to make changes. You cannot change birthdates. Contact us and provide the name of the person you need to correct along with the correct birth date, and we will correct it for you.  You also cannot make residency status changes.

For either birthdate or residency updates, please email recreation@sterlingheights.gov or call 586-446-2700 or use the Contact Us tab in RecTrac.

I need to change my Username, Email Address, or Password. How do I do that?

Login, click on your name, and visit My Profile and make any changes. If you encounter any issues, please email recreation@sterlingheights.gov or call 586-446-2700, or use the Contact Us tab in RecTrac.

My account says I am Locked Out?

If you unsuccessfully tried to log in 5 times, the system will lock you out of your account for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes have passed, please use the Forgot Username/ Forgot Password functions to reset.
