The Maker Space will be available to Sterling Heights Public Library cardholders. Those cardholders under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a caregiver over the age of 18.

Where is the Maker Space?

The Maker Space is located across from the Youth Department Desk in the former Teen Room.

What's available to use in the Maker Space?

The Maker Space has 3D printers, a 3D scanner, 3 Cricut Machines, a Silhouette Cameo 4 Pro, a sewing machine, a seven-needle embroidery machine, a sublimation printer, heat press, mug press, button maker, 3D pens, laminator and a computer with the Adobe Creative Suite software.

How much does the Maker Space cost?

Cardholders are provided 5 visits at no cost. Additional visits will require the cardholder to pay for materials and extended time on the 3D printer as listed on the Maker Space Cost Sheet. See a list of fees here. Payments must be made before completing a project. No refunds will be issued for any materials, except for 3D printer failures at the discretion of the Librarian.

If a cardholder brings their own materials, the use of the machines are free of charge. Cardholders should consult with the Librarian to ensure they are selecting the right materials to use.

How do I make an appointment to use the Maker Space?

To make a reservation online, click here and choose “My Bookings” along the top. Sign in with your library card and PIN. Click “Room Bookings,” then choose a Maker Space room that suits your needs. Select a day within three days of the current date. Click the desired time of day (a green box indicates the room is available; red indicates the room is unavailable) and follow the prompts to secure the date.

Visits are one hour in length, except for the Embroidery Machine, which is three hours. Cardholders may reserve one visit per day, except for the Embroidery Machine, which is limited to one visit per week.
