The Sterling Heights Public Library is making it even easier for residents to explore its resources with the launch of a new interactive 3D virtual tour on its website, shpl.net. This cutting-edge tool through LunaTech 3D provides patrons with a complete visual walkthrough of the library, allowing them to navigate the space before they visit.

Designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind, the 3D tour is a game-changer for individuals with disabilities, those who experience anxiety when visiting new places, and anyone who wants to familiarize themselves with the library before arriving. This virtual map ensures that all patrons, regardless of their needs, can confidently plan their visit and access library services with ease.

"Many people feel uncertain when visiting a new space, and we want to remove those barriers," said Tammy Turgeon, Sterling Heights Public Library director. "This interactive tool allows users to explore the entire library from their device, helping them feel comfortable and prepared before they walk through our doors."

Features and Benefits of the 3D Virtual Tour:

  • Improves Accessibility – Helps individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges plan their visit by offering a detailed view of entrances, seating areas, and accessible pathways.
  • Reduces Anxiety About Visiting New Spaces – Allows children to see the Storytime Room in advance, helping them feel more at ease before attending programs.
  • Enhances Meeting Room Usage – Provides a preview of available meeting spaces so residents and organizations can select a room that fits their needs.
  • Strengthens the Library’s Online Presence – Available not only on the library’s website but also on its Google Business page, making SHPL more accessible to new visitors.
  • Showcases Library Amenities – Serves as a digital marketing tool, highlighting the many services and resources the library has to offer.

The 3D virtual tour is now live and accessible through shpl.net and the library’s Google Business profile. The City of Sterling Heights and SHPL remain committed to providing innovative and inclusive solutions that enhance community engagement and access to public resources.
