Building Closures

The Sterling Heights Public Library will be closed on Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day and Nov. 27-30 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Upton House

Connect with Sterling Heights' past with photos, displays and more at the Upton House Museum. Tours will be available on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. No registration required.

Day of the Dead Workshop

Dia Los Muertos, Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday rich in symbolism that celebrates family and the lives of lost loved ones through traditions. Anton Art Center will conduct a workshop for all ages to learn about the holiday and create art projects that are traditional for the celebration.

Getting to Know Your Watershed

Join the Clinton River Watershed Council at Sterling Heights Public Library to learn more about the Clinton River Watershed!

Get answers to questions such as: What is a watershed? Where am I located within the watershed? What is the history of the Clinton River watershed? What types of restoration work is being completed in the watershed? And what projects can residents take part in? All members of the general public are welcome.

Learn to Make a Pottery Candy Dish

Get your hands dirty and your creativity flowing in this fun, two-hour pottery class led by local artist Jan Bostwick. Learn the basics of hand-building as you shape and design your vary own candy dish-- perfect for gifting or keeping! After the class, your piece will be kiln-fired and ready for pickup once it's finished. No experience needed-- just bring your imagination!

Book Binding Class

Monday, Nov. 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Register online.

Learn the essential skills of bookbinding in this introductory class! We'll cover cutting, folding, sewing, and gluing, and you'll leave with your own handmade book. Prior hand sewing and crafting experience are highly recommended, as we'll be working at a pace best suited for those comfortable with intermediate craft projects. All supplies will be provided! Ages 14+ are welcome at this program.

3rd to 5th grade students can boost reading skills with support from fun reading mentors in this program! The program kicks off with a short story read to the group, followed by a discussion to help everyone engage with the text. Then, students will take turns reading exciting short stories out loud in this fun, supportive setting.
