[ARCHIVED] 10 Fun Things to Do at Sterlingfest

Fun at SF 2025

Sterlingfest is right around the corner, and with the festival growing every year, it’s easy to let the fun sneak up on you. Don’t miss out—check out our guide to 10 things you have to experience this year:

Jazz and Blues

Live Music

There’s no shortage of live music, with three stages offering something for everyone. Enjoy some funky vibes at the Jazz & Blues Stage located in the Upton House Garden, rock out at the Suds 'n' Sounds Pavilion underneath the Dodge Farmers Market Pavilion, and catch a star-studded lineup on the Main Stage each night.

Art Fair

More than 100 artists are set to take over the Civic Center parking lot in front of City Hall and the police station with everything from handmade candles and home décor to intricate paintings and sculptures. The art fair runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, giving you plenty of time to browse and buy.

Sterlingfest Midway Rides

Stretching across the Dodge Park parking lots, the Sterlingfest Midway features rides, games and attractions for all ages. Whether you’re relaxing on the Ferris wheel or going full throttle on thrill rides, there’s fun for everyone. Unlimited ride wristbands are on sale now for $32. Lock in early bird pricing before 11:59 p.m. July 23—wristbands will be $38 on the day of the event.

The Kidz Tent is packed with arts, crafts and interactive, family-friendly performances. From jugglers to animal shows designed for little ones (and their grown-ups), it’s the perfect stop to keep kids entertained and engaged throughout the day.

Drone Show

For one night only, the drone show—presented by Christian Financial Credit Union—returns on Thursday, July 24, at 9:30 p.m. Look to the skies after sunset for incredible displays themed around all things Sterlingfest.

Tour the Upton House Museum

Step into Sterling Heights history at the Upton House, open for tours on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. While you're there, don’t forget to indulge your sweet tooth at the Old-Fashioned Candy Sale, hosted by the Sterling Heights Historical Commission. They’ll be serving up sweet water taffy and other nostalgic treats.

Emoji Scavenger Hunt

If you’ve got a keen eye, test your observation skills in the emoji scavenger hunt hosted by the Sterling Heights Public Library. Pick up a map at the library starting July 16 and track down 15 clues throughout the festival. Entries are due by July 28 for a chance to win a prize.

SF Food

Food & Drinks Galore

Sterlingfest is packed with food trucks and tents stretching from the Dodge Park Splash Pad to the art fair. Grab a cold beer at the Suds 'n' Sounds Pavilion or sip wine in the wine garden while you eat your way through the fest. Explore all the restaurants, food trucks and food vendors serving up delicious eats this year.

Local Author Book Sale

Meet more than 50 local authors and discover your next great read during the Local Author Book Sale outside the library on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s a great way to support local talent, find your new favorite book and meet the minds behind the material.

Bonus: SterlingFAST 5K
