Community Garden Grand Opening 2025

The Memorial Day Parade, the Community Garden grand opening, the launch of the Library's new Mobile Library and so much more kept the city busy with activity in every corner.

Community Garden Opens

James C. Nelson Park has been revitalized with over 32,000 square feet of enhancements, including a new Community Garden with more than 115 garden beds. Additions like a Children’s Garden, Butterfly Conservatory, bee apiary, and native plantings promote biodiversity, public health, and environmental learning. Funded in part by ARPA, the project supports Sterling Heights’ sustainability goals and creates accessible, engaging spaces for residents of all ages.

A Token of Thanks to the Sterling Heights Fire Department

On Friday, May 9, a crew at Fire Station 4 was honored in a special ceremony recognizing their outstanding prehospital care during a stroke emergency. Their quick actions and professionalism contributed to a positive outcome for the patient. Representatives from Henry Ford Macomb Hospital were on scene to present the Stroke Survivor Coin as a symbol of gratitude and recognition.

Meet our Latest Featured Artist: Camille Goscicki

Camille is a 33-year resident of Sterling Heights and worked for the City for 17 years, starting at the Library and ending in Human Resources. In retirement, she began to pursue art through a variety of different mediums, including graphite pencil and colored pencil drawing, watercolor painting, art journaling and more. 

She enjoys creating landscapes along with expressive abstract paintings. In her work, she creates visual texture and energy using color, acrylic inks, layering and glazing. Be sure to check out her work on the second floor of the Sterling Heights Community Center through the end of June.

Celebrate 50 years of Music in Dodge Park this summer with us! We're throwing the ultimate party every Thursday starting June 5! The Sterling Heights Public Library is hitting the trails this summer with their brand-new Mobile Library. Find them on the move in Dodge Park every Wednesday starting June 18 with free books to keep, fun goodies and a whole lot more.
