Sterling Heights City Council confirmed the appointment of Haley N. Bradley as its new Assistant City Manager (ACM), effective March 31. Her appointment comes following a comprehensive candidate recruitment process administered by the Michigan Municipal League (MML).

“Haley’s extensive experience in funding critical municipal projects coupled with her proven administrative expertise make her an outstanding choice for this position,” said City Manager Mark Vanderpool. “Her leadership and ability to negotiate the needs of varying interests will be an immense benefit to helping advance the city’s vision.”

In the new role, Bradley will provide administrative oversight for key departments including City Development, Community Relations, Parks and Recreation, and the Sterling Heights Public Library. Her role will also encompass strategic leadership in citywide initiatives and programs, further enhancing the City’s commitment to excellence in public service.

Bradley brings over a decade of public service experience to her new role. She began her career in 2014 at the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority before transitioning into municipal government with the city of Albion, Michigan, in 2018. Her tenure in Albion saw a rapid rise through the ranks, starting as deputy clerk/treasurer and advancing to assistant city manager/HR coordinator, where she played a pivotal role in securing grant funding for community revitalization and overseeing key economic development initiatives.

In 2020, she was appointed interim city manager of Albion, successfully navigating the city through the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing comprehensive public health measures. She also led critical labor negotiations, securing four collective bargaining agreements. Her outstanding performance led to her appointment as Albion’s city manager in March 2021.

Over the next three and a half years, Bradley worked closely with Albion City Council and administrative leaders to enhance public services, secure $30 million in grant funding for infrastructure improvements and obtain a $4 million private donation for municipal park renovations.

Bradley holds a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University. She is an active member of the Michigan Municipal Executives (MME) and participates in the Michigan Municipal League’s Women in Municipal Government and 16/50 initiatives.

“Thank you to the mayor, city council and city manager for entrusting me to serve in this role,” said Bradley. “I am excited to embark on this new journey with the city of Sterling Heights. It’s a vibrant community with a strong sense of place and engaged residents. I look forward to building on those strengths that have made Sterling Heights one of Michigan’s premier cities.”

The city of Sterling Heights welcomes Haley Bradley as the new ACM and looks forward to her contributions as the city continues its commitment to innovating the quality of life for all residents.
