The Sterling Heights Public Library, located at 40255 Dodge Park Rd., is seeking an experienced, professional artist to enhance the columns that are located between the Sterling Heights Public Library and the Sterling Heights Police Station. The project includes painting the cement bases of 15 columns with a cohesive design that reflects the library, learning, exploring, or a similar theme of the artist’s choice. The Sterling Heights Public Library’s mission and values and the City of Sterling Heights’ Vision 2040 can be a great source of ideas.
Four of the column bases measure approximately 38” in height x 57” circumference (they are close to the buildings so they do not go around fully) and 11 column bases that range in height from 36” – 40” x approximately 79” circumference (these go entirely around). There are three partial column bases on the left, 11 full column bases in the center, and one partial column base on the right.
- The maximum budget is $5,000.
- Proposed budget must include all aspects, design, labor (power washing, painting and sealing) and materials.
- The project must be completed before June 1, 2025.
- Proposal should include a digital rendering or mockup of the artwork and approximate length of time to complete the project, along with a resume of previous work.
Please submit your proposal to Tammy Turgeon at tturgeon@sterlingheights.gov, by Monday, October 28, 2024 at 5 p.m.
If selected, the Library Director will meet with the artist to review the proposed artwork and make any modifications as necessary.
