Refuse Collection
In 2023, Sterling Heights City Council approved a 10-year contract for waste collection and curbside recycling services with Priority Waste, a leading waste management company known for its commitment to environmental sustainability and outstanding service.
Your curbside refuse is collected Monday through Friday. View the Refuse Collection Map to see which day your residence will have curbside refuse collection.
Rules & Regulations
- Residents are reminded that no refuse or yard waste should be placed at curbside earlier than 1 p.m. the day before collection.
- No items should be placed in the street.
- All refuse must be out by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Even if the trucks usually come later in the day, schedules sometimes change. Remember, you can put everything out the night before.
- Make sure the refuse and recycling cart lids are closed to avoid littering and rodent access.
- Place carts at the curb with the lid opening facing toward the street.
- More information regarding collection rules and regulations can be found in Chapter 23 of the Charter and Codes of Ordinances here.
